Beyond the Pink Ribbon
Weaving Care into Everyday Life with NBCF
Every October, pink ribbons symbolize more than awareness—they represent early detection, tangible support, and enduring hope.
This year, LILYSILK continues its partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, introducing four new ruby pink sleepwear styles to our Caring Collection. From July 2025 through September 2026, 20% of the collection's sales will support NBCF's vital work in early detection and patient care.
To date, our contributions have provided breast health education for 32 women, funded 23 mammograms, and supported 123 patients with navigation services. Each purchase creates meaningful impact.
Beyond the vital funds raised, we believe in the power of everyday moments of self-care, especially for those affected by a breast cancer journey. It's a philosophy echoed by NBCF's own team.
"Once a week, I take time to relax in a nice, hot bath. I light candles, add bubbles and salt to the water, and get a calming playlist going," shares Candace Day, Senior Marketing Communications Manager at NBCF, describing her weekly feel-good ritual. "I block the world out, and it's just me." It's in these quiet, personal moments that we can reconnect with ourselves and find peace.
This commitment extends to proactive health. True self-care also means listening to your body. We encourage regular breast self-exams as a simple yet powerful routine. For a quick guide, please refer to the self-check visual we’ve prepared – your personal health is worth those few mindful moments.
A crucial part of NBCF's mission is to dispel dangerous myths. "A myth I often hear is that if there is no breast cancer in your family history, you don't have to worry about it," says Ana Fermín, Community Outreach Manager. "The fact is that most women diagnosed have no known family history."
Opening up the conversation around breast health is equally vital. Melanie Neystel, Patient Services Coordinator and a young breast cancer survivor, emphasizes this: "I wish people would talk more openly about the importance of consistent and regular breast self-exams for women between the ages of 18-40. I found a lump during a self-exam at a time when I wasn't performing them consistently."
The collaboration between LILYSILK and NBCF is more than a business initiative; it's a shared belief in hope and compassion.
As Breast Cancer Awareness Month marks its 40th anniversary, we reaffirm a core belief: truly empowering women means walking alongside them through every stage of life. Now entering our fourth year of partnership with NBCF, we remain deeply committed to their mission—and to making a tangible difference in the lives of women and their families.
Together, we are weaving a future that is stronger, softer, and brimming with hope—one thread, one conversation, and one act of care at a time.
